If you’ve been part of my Notes to Subscribers Growth Challenge, you already know how powerful Notes can be.

For years, I treated “hooks” as an afterthought—just another part of writing. But once I understood their potential, everything changed.

Now, hooks are my secret weapon for making people stop scrolling, engage, and subscribe.

And here’s the best part: I’ve created an actionable webinar to help you do the same.

Why Hooks Matter

A strong hook is the difference between being seen and being ignored.

You have seconds to capture attention, so every word counts.

A great hook does 3 things:

1️⃣ Stops the scroll.
2️⃣ Sparks curiosity.
3️⃣ Promises value.

Let me show you how I’ve made this work for me.

How I Turn Hooks Into Subscribers

1️⃣ I Write for My Audience, Not Me

People don’t care about your random thoughts—they care about what’s in it for them.

Here’s how I craft hooks that resonate:

  • Solve a problem. “Struggling to grow your Substack? Try this.”

  • Ask a question. “What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made as a creator?”

  • Be bold. “Most creators waste their time on Notes. Here’s why.”

A Note isn’t about showing off; it’s about serving your audience.

2️⃣ I Use My Hook Formula

The hook formula I teach in my webinar is simple but powerful:

  • Start with a surprising statement or stat.

  • Build tension by hinting at a solution.

  • End with a clear promise of value.

Example:
“80% of creators quit Substack in under 6 months. Here’s how to make sure you’re not one of them.”

3️⃣ I Leverage ChatGPT for Hook Ideas

Not sure what to write? ChatGPT can help you:

  • Brainstorm hook ideas based on your niche.

  • Refine your tone to match your audience.

  • Discover what’s trending in your space.

You’ll find 10 of my best prompts in the webinar!

4️⃣ I Show Up Daily (With a Plan)

Consistency isn’t enough—strategy matters. I use my hook templates and 30-day Notes calendar to stay ahead.

Examples:

  • Educational: “The one mistake 90% of creators make when writing Notes (and how to fix it).”

  • Growth-focused: “Your Substack isn’t too small to matter. Drop your link, and I’ll check it out!”

  • Entertaining: “Confession: My first 10 Notes flopped. Here’s what I did differently.”

With this system, I’m never stuck on what to post.

5️⃣ I Track Engagement and Conversion

Likes and comments are great, but I focus on what matters:

  • How many subscribers come from Notes?

  • Are readers engaging with my content?

  • Is my audience growing consistently?

Some of my best-converting Notes had fewer likes but drove tons of subscriptions.

Your Turn: Want to turn your Notes into a subscriber engine?

Here’s what to do:

1️⃣ Become a paid subscriber and join the Notes to Subscribers Growth Challenge.

3️⃣ Start using the templates to create scroll-stopping content for your audience.

P.S. What’s your biggest struggle with writing hooks? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to help!
